Inside the Halton Lune Hydro
On Thursday March 13th there is an opportunity to visit the pioneering Halton Lune Hydro scheme, currently being built on the River Lune.
Visitors will be given a tour of the construction site at Forge Weir, which first saw water powered generation in the 13th century. The directors of the Halton Lune Hydro will explain how the hydro came about and the technology involved in the scheme as well as answering questions people have about the project. This will be followed by lunch at Halton Mill.
Anyone interested should meet at 11am at Halton Mill, the former Luneside Engineering works in Mill Lane, Halton, Lancaster, LA2 6ND. which will get its electricity direct from the hydro once it’s completed.
There will be another open event on 10 April at 7pm at The Centre @ Halton (Low Road, LA2 6NB), with a chance to meet the Directors and get an update on progress.
