Jazz Night getting nearer
The Centre’s next major event is a Jazz Night from 7.30pm on Saturday September 13th where we are working in collaboration with local musicians to create a Jazz experience . In addition to the music there will be a well stocked bar and a light supper will be served.
We have a huge amount of talent in area and these are three of the bands who will be playing. Information on the others will be added to the website very soon:
Bossa-Jazza-Nova – The band consists of Richard Light(tenor sax), Andrew Sayer (acoustic guitar) and Iain Hunter (Percussion) and delivers warm Jazz and Latin standards for listening and moving to.
Mute Acoustic are an acoustic duo from Lancaster featuring Gavin Neil on guitar and Tom Hynes on Cajon. They have both recently left LRGS Sixth Form so are likely to be making their last appearance before leaving for University! They play a mixture of original music and covers, including OutKast’s Hey Ya!, each with their own interesting twist and have performed across Lancaster in various pubs, most recently the John O’Gaunt, and at other events such as the LRGS Charity Concert.
Much Different are a jazz and funk group much like the Lancaster-based Carbon Funkprint / Free Beer featuring musicians from the Lancashire Youth Jazz Orchestra. They play arrangements of songs from classic and current Funk, Soul, Rock, and Pop artists. The band has only recently been formed, with the intention of carrying on and developing their own style at the other end of the country, with a number of the band members headed to the University of Cambridge this year.
Tickets are £10 each (including the supper) and are available from the Coffee Shop during opening hours and from Halton Village Newsagents in the High Road. A licensed bar is also available
