Monument to Charlie Chaplin
Monument to Charlie Chaplin
Chaplin’s film “The Great Dictator”, made in 1940, is a satirical look at Hitler’s rise to power. During a screening of the film, in Hull (a strategic port), in 1941, the cinema was bombed by the Luftwaffe with, fortunately, no casualties. “Monument to Charlie Chaplin” is a short film celebrating this remarkable coincidence. The film is silent, screened with live musical accompaniment, and is followed by a full showing of “The Great Dictator”.The event is being held at the Halton Mill on Friday March 6th from 8pm.

Tickets for this two-film/live music event are £8, available from
Francis Roe (07889 0728094), from the Coffee Shop at The Centre and from Halton Newsagents in the High Road.
