Great Christmas lunch
On Friday December 11th, the over 55s Luncheon Club celebrated Christmas early with a fantastic lunch cooked by the wonderful Angela Kirby and Jane Greenwood.
Before the excellent lunch of turkey and a range of desserts, the Luncheon Club were entertained by the pre-school children singing carols and songs, and by a selection of festive songs by Lune Valley Voices. Over 40 people attended, the largest number ever, and thank goodness for the new crockery funded by Aviva to cater for everyone.
Everyone really enjoyed the meal and the socialising and also helped Angela to celebrate her special 70th birthday, which happened to be on the same day.
Organiser Maureen Richardson thanked the cooks and other volunteers on the day and said:
” Thank you so much to Angela and Jane for giving us such a wonderful traditional Christmas dinner – excellent quality and presentation. We have all enjoyed the meal and we are so lucky that Angela and Jane prepare such great meals for the over 55s Luncheon Club throughout the year.
We are also pleased to be able to share Angela’s birthday”.
Maureen also told everyone about the hard work of Diane Marie Stirzaker and her helpers in providing free meals for people in Halton who had suffered from the floods in the last week. Halton Stores had supplied the ingredients and there were plans to continue to help locals with the Centre acting as a distribution centre.
