Celebration for our volunteers
On the evening of January 6th, The Centre organised a very enjoyable social event to thank the many volunteers for all their hard work since the skate park and extension were completed.
The Centre’s meeting room was packed with over 35 volunteers all networking. Some were meeting people for the first time and others were catching up after the Christmas holidays.
Brian Jefferson, Chair of the HCA Committee (which manages The Centre), Brian made a speech thanking everyone for their support:
“This volunteer ‘thank you’ helps us to celebrating the 5th anniversary of the major upgrade to our outdoor and indoor facilities, including the meeting rooms and the Coffee Shop.
In all the many applications for grants and other funding to complete the building work, we wrote that the Centre would be run and managed by volunteers. At the time this was very much aspirational- but thanks to the contribution that so many volunteers have made we have actually exceeded these aspirations.
We are all very proud of the Centre and the way the community has shown its support. There is no doubt that we wouldn’t be where we are today without our volunteers. “
In thanking all the volunteers present at this celebration event, he also said that we needed to continue encourage new volunteers to come forward in order for The Centre to develop further and succeed.
