Two clothes events in Halton

By Janet | February 21, 2016 | Category Uncategorized

Children's Nearly New Sale

The Centre  is continuing its successful events programme with a Children’s Nearly New Sale on Saturday 19th March 2016 from 10am to 12 noon.

There will be over 20 tables selling a wide variety of children’s goods, including nursery equipment, toys, clothes and relevant household items.  Tables are now all SOLD.

There will also be refreshments in our successful Coffee Shop, a cake stall and a raffle.  Donations of cakes and raffle prizes are most welcome.  Entry is 50p for adults and children are free.

Funds raised on the day will help to finance continuing improvements to the Centre and its facilities.  For more information and to book a table contact Maureen on tel: 01524 811316 or e-mail: centremanager@haltoncentre.org

Later on that same day, you can walk down to Halton Mill on Mill Lane for a Clothes Swap and pop-up café run by Lancaster People’s Café  – from 12.30pm  to 3pm.

Entry to the event costs £5 (£3 concessions) which entitles you to take away as many clothes as you like.  Please bring clothes you’d like to swap – you can drop them in prior to the event either on Saturday morning or Friday afternoon, or bring them with you.

All proceeds will go to Lancaster and Morecambe City of Sanctuary, a group of volunteers supporting and welcoming refugees, running education activities, and campaigning to ensure that this area does its fair share in providing sanctuary to people fleeing war and persecution.

Lancaster People’s Café –  www.lancasterpeoplescafe.org.uk/ – is a new initiative normally based in Lancaster, running regular ‘pop-up cafes’.  At these events volunteers cook and prepare ‘intercepted food’, that is, food that has been mislabelled or is within its sell by date but is about to be thrown away, and it’s given away on a ‘pay as you can, take what you need’ basis – so people with funds pay normal café prices, and people without funds are encouraged to feel welcome to take what they need.

Halton Mill is very excited to be welcoming them for their first out of town pop up café!

For more information call Halton Mill, 07582 789406, or email Fiona on greenelephantcoop@gmail.com .   For more information about Lancaster People’s Café email  info@lancasterpeoplescafe.org.uk
