Become a volunteer
We are still looking for volunteers for the Coffee Shop in the week on a casual or regular basis.
Everyone enjoys cafes, using their offerings, it’s an open door and a change of scene, and a chance to meet other people. Many people feel they like to support a local community café. Come and join us!
Sometimes the regular volunteer is unable to come and it would be great to have another person able to cover.
When there’s no volunteer available the Coffee Shop doesn’t open so we’d really appreciate more help.
There’s no cooking involved. Do you have some spare time? Or come with a friend? Offers of help will be greatly appreciated. It doesn’t have to be for the whole afternoon, an hour or two is fine, it all helps.
Adult volunteers may work on their own for short periods of time but generally work with the support of the Centre staff Monday to Friday or with a Weekend Supervisor. There are paid Supervisors in the Coffee Shop at the busiest times – weekends and school holidays.
Duke Of Edinburgh volunteers
Since the Coffee Shop opened in 2013 we have had a steady stream of students working towards their volunteer module of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. We also have some places for students on Saturdays and Sundays during the school holidays. Some of our Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteers have used this experience to enhance their CVs which has helped them to secure paid work elsewhere. We can’t offer payment but being a volunteer for the Coffee Shop will look great on your CV – and we can offer snacks!
Young volunteers (age 14-17 years) work alongside a responsible adult to help run the Coffee Shop and provide a friendly atmosphere for our customers. Hours are flexible with an average of 2-3 hours per week.
How to volunteer
We introduce all volunteers to our Coffee Shop in a friendly and informal way. There’s just a short Registration Form and an Equal Opportunities Form to complete, no CV required.
If anyone would like to join our team whether you can manage 2 or 3 hours a week, or once a fortnight, or even once a month? It all helps a great deal. Phone 07799 502199 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be very happy to hear from you.
